Do you offer pet friendly and child friendly pest control?

Yes. Bugga Off Pest Co provides pet friendly and child conscious pest control by tailoring each treatment to the property, the occupants and any animals on site.

For most general pest treatments, people and pets simply need to remain away from treated areas until all surfaces are completely dry. Once dry and standard aftercare instructions have been followed, treated areas can generally be used again as normal. Upon confirmation of your booking, a preparation and aftercare guide will be provided by email. At the start of the appointment, I will also explain everything clearly, including guidance for dogs, cats, fish tanks, birds, chickens and sensitive areas, so the process is clear and low stress.

Is pest control safe for babies, kids and pets once dry?

Yes. For most treatments, the main safety requirement is to avoid treated areas until the professional application has fully dried.

It is strongly recommended that occupants leave the property for around 2 to 3 hours during internal treatments to allow treated surfaces to dry and the home to ventilate properly. Bugga Off Pest Co uses high grade professional products applied strictly according to Australian label directions. Every treatment is planned around the property layout, occupants, pets, fish tanks and sensitive areas, ensuring the process is safe, clear and stress free for the household.

What should I do before pest control?

The most important step is to provide clear access to the internal edges and external areas requiring treatment.

Clear access allows the treatment to be applied more efficiently and thoroughly. Before the appointment, please pick up toys, clothing, pet bowls and loose items from the floor. Store exposed food, clear items away from external walls and move smaller items away from internal skirting boards where practical. You do not need to empty the entire house or move heavy furniture for a standard general pest treatment.

Do I need to leave the house during pest control?

For internal treatments, occupants should remain away from treated areas until all surfaces are fully dry.

Most customers leave the property for around 2 to 3 hours while the internal treatment is completed and the home ventilates. If anyone in the household is pregnant, elderly, asthmatic, unwell, chemically sensitive, immunocompromised or has specific health concerns, please advise before the appointment so the treatment and aftercare can be planned appropriately.

Do I need to empty kitchen cupboards?

Not for most standard general pest treatments.

For a routine general pest spray, kitchen cupboards generally do not need to be emptied unless there is active pest activity inside them. If small cockroaches are present inside cupboards, appliance areas, hinges or kitchen cracks, this is usually treated as a targeted German cockroach service and clear preparation instructions will be provided beforehand.

Do you use professional pest control products?

Yes. Bugga Off Pest Co uses high grade professional pest control products selected specifically for the pest, property and treatment area.

Depending on the job, this may include professional residual products such as Biflex Ultra Lo Odour, cockroach gels such as Goliath, IGRs, insecticide dusts, aerosols, professional rodent baits and secure bait stations. IGR stands for insect growth regulator, which can assist in interrupting the breeding cycle of certain pests such as cockroaches. Product selection depends on the pest, access, surface type, house design, property age, safety considerations, label directions and the desired outcome.

Why are Bunnings pest products different from professional pest control products?

Bunnings and hardware store pest products may help with very minor issues, but they are not equivalent to a professional treatment plan.

The difference extends far beyond the chemical itself. Elite pest control relies on accurate pest identification, correct placement, suitable product selection, proper surface treatment, access to professional products, understanding pest behaviour and knowing exactly what should not be sprayed. Do you treat wasps?

Yes. Bugga Off Pest Co treats wasps, including paper wasps, mud wasps and European wasps.

Different wasp species require different treatment methods. Paper wasp nests are commonly found around eaves, window sills, downpipes, fences, sheds and other visible outdoor areas. European wasps may build nests in the ground, wall cavities, roof voids or concealed building spaces. European wasps can become highly aggressive around the nest and may swarm if disturbed, so they should always be treated seriously. If anyone at the property has a known sting allergy, remain well clear of the nest and advise before the appointment.

Are wasps dangerous?

Yes. Wasps can present a serious risk, particularly around children, pets, outdoor living areas and people with sting allergies.

Wasps are capable of stinging multiple times, and some people may experience severe allergic reactions to wasp or bee stings. European wasps present a higher risk due to aggressive nest defence behaviour and their tendency to attack in numbers if disturbed. Paper wasps can also inflict painful stings and should not be ignored when nests are located near doors, play areas, clotheslines, sheds, decks, pathways or other high traffic areas.

Do you treat bees?

Bees are managed differently to wasps and are not automatically classified as a pest.

Where honey bees are involved and there is no immediate safety concern, relocation by a beekeeper is generally the preferred option. Bees are important pollinators and should be correctly identified before any treatment is considered. If you are unsure whether you have bees, paper wasps, mud wasps or European wasps, please send a clear photo or short video before booking, or contact a local beekeeper to check whether live relocation is possible.

Do you treat spiders, redbacks and webbing spiders?

Yes. Bugga Off Pest Co treats spiders including redbacks, webbing spiders, black house spiders, huntsmans and common spiders found around South Coast homes.

Spider treatments focus on the areas spiders actively use, including eaves, windows, doors, external walls, fences, sheds, garages, weepholes, garden edges, decks, outdoor furniture, cracks, crevices and webbing zones. Redbacks require particular attention around sheltered harbourage areas such as outdoor furniture, pot plants, meter boxes, sheds, retaining walls and concealed low level edges.

Why am I still seeing spiders or webs after treatment?

Seeing spiders or old webbing immediately after treatment does not mean the chemical barrier has failed.

Professional residual treatments work as spiders contact treated surfaces, harbourage areas and webbing zones. You may see dead, dying or affected spiders after the service as they move through treated areas. Old webs can also remain visible even after the spider population has been controlled, which is why it is usually best to leave webs in place for 2 - 3 weeks before brushing them down.

Do you treat ants?

Yes. Bugga Off Pest Co treats ant activity inside and outside South Coast homes, especially in coastal areas where ants thrive.

Ants can be simple or stubborn depending on the species, nest location, moisture, food sources, wall cavities, pavers, garden beds and surrounding pressure. A proper ant treatment is not just spraying visible trails. It may involve locating entry points, directly treating nesting or harbourage areas, using specialised non repellent products, gels or granules and giving practical advice to reduce reinfestation pressure.

Why do ants keep coming back after DIY sprays?

DIY ant sprays often only hit the ants you can see.

Ant problems can involve hidden nests, satellite colonies, wall cavities, moisture sources, food sources and trails coming from outside the home. Spraying visible ants can sometimes scatter activity or push trails into new areas. A professional treatment looks at where the ants are coming from, where they are feeding and how to get better control at the source.

Do you treat fleas and end of lease flea treatments?

Yes. Bugga Off Pest Co provides flea treatments, including end of lease flea treatments for rental properties where pets have been kept.

Flea jobs depend on preparation, access and the level of activity. Vacuuming, washing pet bedding, treating pets with a vet approved product and allowing access to floors and pet resting areas can all make a big difference. Active flea infestations may need a different approach to a standard end of lease flea treatment.

Do you treat ticks, mites and biting pests?

Yes. Bugga Off Pest Co can treat ticks and some mite or biting pest issues, depending on the situation.

Ticks are usually associated with lawns, vegetation edges, pets, wildlife movement and outdoor resting areas. Mites can be more complicated because the source may be birds, rodents, stored items, pets, roof voids or another host issue. The first step is working out what pest is actually involved, because the treatment changes depending on the source.

Do you treat mosquitoes?

Yes. Bugga Off Pest Co treats mosquito pressure around suitable outdoor areas.

Mosquito control works best when treatment is combined with reducing breeding sites. This means checking stagnant water, pot plant saucers, drains, buckets, blocked gutters, water holding items, dense vegetation and shaded resting areas. Around coastal and bushland properties, mosquitoes can keep moving in from surrounding areas, so expectations need to be realistic.

Do you treat silverfish, carpet beetles, clothes moths and pantry pests?

Yes. Bugga Off Pest Co treats common indoor pests such as silverfish, carpet beetles, clothes moths and pantry pests.

These pests often need more than a quick spray because the source can be stored food, clothing, fabrics, carpets, wardrobes, roof voids, moisture, undisturbed storage areas or older building gaps. Treatment works best when the source is found and affected items are cleaned, removed or managed properly.

Do you treat crickets, earwigs, millipedes, centipedes, scorpions and other crawling insects?

Yes. Bugga Off Pest Co treats a wide range of general crawling insects around homes and buildings.

These pests often build up around moisture, garden beds, leaf litter, retaining walls, pavers, subfloors, garages, sheds, external lights and entry points. A good treatment looks at the external pressure areas, not just the insects already inside.

Do you treat lawn or garden pests like armyworms?

Some lawn and garden pest issues may be looked at case by case, depending on the pest, site, product suitability and label directions.

If you are dealing with lawn damage, chewing insects or unusual outdoor pest activity, send photos and a short description before booking. If it is outside the normal general pest scope or needs a specialist lawn treatment approach, I’ll tell you straight.

Why is Bunnings rodent bait often a waste of money?

Bunnings rodent bait often fails because it is used without a proper rodent control strategy.

Rodents are cautious, intelligent and often have multiple food sources available. Professional rodent control looks at travel paths, harbourage areas, entry points, roof void activity, outdoor pressure, bait station placement and follow up. The bait matters, but placement and strategy matter just as much.

What is the difference between first generation, second generation and cholecalciferol rodent baits?

Rodent baits do not all work the same way.

First generation anticoagulant baits are multi feed baits, meaning rodents usually need to feed several times to consume a lethal dose. They generally break down faster in the rodent compared with second generation anticoagulant baits, which can reduce secondary poisoning risk to non target animals.

Second generation anticoagulant baits are generally single feed baits. They are more potent and can be very effective, but they break down more slowly and can carry a higher secondary poisoning risk if poisoned rodents are eaten by pets, birds or wildlife.

Cholecalciferol baits, such as Selontra, are different again. Cholecalciferol is not a first or second generation anticoagulant. It is a non anticoagulant rodenticide based on vitamin D3, with a different mode of action that affects calcium regulation in rodents. On suitable sites, it can be a strong professional option, especially where bait choice, placement and risk control matter.

Do you use the new safer cholecalciferol based rodent bait like Selontra?

Where appropriate, Bugga Off Pest Co may use professional cholecalciferol rodent bait such as Selontra as part of a rodent management program.

Cholecalciferol is a non anticoagulant rodenticide, meaning it works differently from traditional anticoagulant rodent baits. It is based on vitamin D3 and affects calcium regulation in rodents. On suitable sites, it can be an effective option due to its different mode of action and ability to reduce prolonged bait feeding compared with many standard anticoagulant baiting programs. Selontra is a professional restricted bait and is not available to the general public.

Is Selontra safer for pets, birds and wildlife?

Selontra can be an effective professional option on the right site, but no rodent bait should ever be treated casually. Although there are published studies online that suggestthat Cholecalciferol is as much as 50x less toxic to birds when compared to SGAR's.

Risk reduction comes from appropriate product selection, secure lockable bait stations, controlled placement, monitoring and clear customer instructions. Bait should never be scattered loosely around the property. If you have dogs, cats, chickens, birds, wildlife activity, water sources or sensitive areas, please advise before the appointment so the rodent plan can be set up correctly.

Will rats die in my roof?

No pest controller can honestly guarantee where a rat or mouse will die.

The aim is to reduce rodent activity quickly and position bait strategically, often using secure external bait stations to intercept rodents before they continue entering the roof. In some cases, rodents may still die in inaccessible roof voids, walls or subfloors. Every house and rodent infestation is different, so careful bait station placement and blocking entry points usually gives better results than baiting alone.

What if I hear scratching or noises in the roof?

Noises in the roof are commonly caused by rodents or possums, and the sound pattern can help identify the likely cause.

Rats and mice often make scratching, gnawing or scurrying sounds. Possums are generally louder, heavier and more noticeable. You may also notice droppings, chewed packaging, odours, damaged insulation or pets reacting to walls or roof voids. If you are unsure, accessible areas can be inspected and advice provided on the most likely cause.

Can rodents damage my property?

Yes. Rodents can cause significant damage if left active in a roof void, wall cavity, garage or subfloor.

Rats and mice may chew electrical wiring, pipework, insulation, timber, stored items and air conditioning ducting. They can also contaminate areas with droppings and urine. With my trade background, wiring damage is something I take seriously. Rodents can create electrical hazards, fire risk, water damage risk and expensive repair costs if the problem is left too long.

What do German cockroaches look like?

German cockroaches are small, light brown cockroaches commonly found in kitchens, cupboards, appliances and wet areas. They can be identified by 2 distinct dark stripes behind their heads and often leave small black droppings that look like cracked pepper.

They are much smaller than the larger outdoor cockroaches often seen around garages and garden areas. If large numbers of small cockroaches are being seen at night, or especially during the day, around kettles, dishwashers, fridges, microwaves, pantries, hinges or cupboard edges, a targeted German cockroach treatment is usually required.

Why are German cockroaches so hard to get rid of?

German cockroaches are difficult to control because they breed rapidly, hide deeply and can be resistant to basic DIY sprays.

They live inside warm harbourage areas such as appliances, hinges, cupboard cracks, kickboards and wall gaps. Infestations can also be influenced by hygiene, clutter, food sources or neighbouring units. Effective treatment requires more than simply spraying visible areas, as German cockroaches usually require multiple professional products and a structured treatment plan to properly control.

How do you treat German cockroaches properly?

A proper German cockroach treatment uses a targeted and structured approach rather than a quick spray.

Depending on the infestation, treatment may involve professional cockroach gel such as Goliath, targeted residual products, dusting, flushing, insect growth regulators and follow up. Insect growth regulators are particularly important because they help interrupt the cockroach life cycle rather than only killing the visible cockroaches on the day.

Why do German cockroach treatments often need follow up?

German cockroach treatments often require follow up because eggs, hidden harbourages and juvenile cockroaches can continue the infestation after the initial visit.

One treatment can make a substantial improvement, but heavy kitchen infestations generally require a structured process. Follow up appointments allow progress to be assessed, remaining activity to be targeted and reinfestation from hidden areas to be reduced before the breeding cycle starts again.

What should I do before a German cockroach treatment?

The most important preparation step is reducing food sources and providing access to affected kitchen areas and cabinets.

Clear cupboards, remove rubbish, clean food scraps, avoid leaving dirty dishes out overnight and allow access to cupboards, appliances, hinges, kickboards and cracks where activity has been seen. Avoid using supermarket cockroach sprays before treatment, as they can interfere with professional baiting and push cockroaches deeper into harbourage areas.

What happens during a general pest treatment?

A proper treatment begins with inspecting the property and identifying the main pest pressure areas.

Depending on the service booked, treatment may include internal edges, skirting boards, cracks and crevices, entry points, window and door sills, external walls, eaves, sheds, fences, garages, outdoor harbourage areas and other key pest zones. The treatment is adjusted to suit the property, access, pest issue, weather conditions and surrounding environment.

How long does a general pest treatment take?

Most standard home treatments take approximately 1 to 3 hours, depending on the size of the property, access, pest pressure and the services booked.

Larger homes, heavy pest activity, difficult access, roof voids, subfloors, heavy infestations, strata sites and commercial properties may require additional time. Bugga Off Pest Co is focused on completing the work thoroughly and doing the job right the first time rather than rushing through and missing important areas.

How long does a general pest treatment last?

Most general pest treatments are designed to provide residual control for approximately 6 to 12 months.

The actual longevity of the treatment depends on pest pressure, weather, sunlight, rain, surface type, cleaning, pressure washing, vegetation and surrounding bushland. South Coast homes around Batemans Bay, Malua Bay, Broulee and Moruya often experience heavier pest pressure due to coastal humidity, bushland, decks, fences, gardens and older homes.

What should I do after pest control?

Usually less than expected.

Avoid mopping, pressure washing or wiping treated areas such as skirting boards, entry points, cracks, crevices and external surfaces for at least 2 to 3 weeks, or as long as practical after treatment. For spider treatments, it is generally best to leave webs in place for a short period before brushing them down so spiders have a greater chance of contacting treated surfaces.

Will I still see pests after treatment?

Yes. Some increased pest activity straight after a treatment can be normal.

You may notice dead, dying or affected insects as they come into contact with treated areas or are flushed from harbourage zones. Spider webs may also remain visible after spiders have been controlled, which can make the property appear untreated when the treatment is actually working. Clear guidance will be provided so you understand the difference between normal post treatment activity and something requiring further attention.

What if pests come back after treatment?

General pest treatments include a 6 month peace of mind warranty for covered pests such as spiders, large cockroaches, ants and silverfish, subject to treatment conditions, access, cleaning, weather, pest pressure and property conditions.

Some pests are managed differently, including German cockroaches, rodents, fleas, mosquitoes, ticks, stored product pests, bed bugs and heavy infestations. These may require follow up, monitoring or a separate treatment plan. Do you provide pest control for real estate agencies, strata and holiday rentals?

Yes. Bugga Off Pest Co provides pest control services for homeowners, tenants, landlords, real estate agencies, strata managers, holiday rentals and commercial sites across Batemans Bay, Moruya and the Eurobodalla region.

Treatment notes, invoices and reports can be supplied where required. For holiday rentals and managed properties, clear communication and reliable documentation help protect the owner, tenant, guest experience and property reputation.

Do you do termite treatments?

No. Bugga Off Pest Co focuses exclusively on general pest control, such as spiders, ants, cockroaches, fleas, silverfish, moths, mosquitoes, wasps, ticks, scorpions and rodents.

Bugga Off Pest Co does not currently offer termite inspections or termite treatments. Termite work is a specialist service with its own equipment, insurance and compliance requirements, so I choose to stay focused on delivering high quality general pest control without compromise. Many customers use a licensed termite specialist for termite work and then book Bugga Off Pest Co separately for general pest control. This ensures general pest treatments are done thoroughly, with proper time and attention, rather than being treated as a quick add on.
